5/21/2023 0 Comments Love Into Eternity by Marcel LynnIt is impossible to intend to love someone for a weekend. I think that there is a hint of eternity in every act of love. If death were the end of the human person, then I think that I would have to conclude that life is absurd. I agree with this not only because of my Catholic faith but also because of my philosophy of person. In spite of what scientists or doctors might say, Marcel thought that love conquers death. Marcel believed that when a person loves someone, the lover discovers that the beloved will live forever. I find especially attractive what Marcel believed about love. For Marcel, hope, love and fidelity were important human acts that led a person into the realm of value, of what really matters, of what Marcel called the mystery of being. I FIND THE philosophy of existentialist personalist Gabriel Marcel very attractive.

Heartland Ember Marshall and graham Wardle as Amy fleming and Ty Borden shirt, hoodie, tank top, sweater and long sleeve t-shirtĮmily Ratajkowski has been on a vintage streak as of late. Top the look off with Loewe’s Puzzle bag in brown. Lean into the schoolgirl aesthetic and style yours with a loafer from By Far, like this model off-duty did. For example, this leg-barring mini from Mango lends itself to being paired with more oversized pieces like a boxy button-up from the Frankie Shop. While there were plenty of midiskirts to be spotted this NYFW, the ultra miniskirt still had its moment. A timeless black trouser like this one from Cos is the glue keeping the entire look together. This style setter pairs her oversized overcoat with a crisp white button-up and a barely there bra. A fall coat is magic in your wardrobe, worn to warm you up when temperatures drop or as a layering piece to show off the Heartland Ember Marshall and graham Wardle as Amy fleming and Ty Borden shirt moreover I love this other stars of your outfit. Jason is absolutely delicious and his obsession for baked goods was freaken hilarious. Jason and Haley are adorable, sweet and kept me laughing out loud throughout the entire book. As a unique friendship develops, both Jason and Haley find themselves dating each other without actually dating one another, only time will tell if it will develop into something more. After five years of getting the cold shoulder from his neighbor, he is delightfully surprised to find out she is a baseball fan, cooks sinfully delicious goodies, and a total blast to hang with. Jason Bradford loves women, just doesn't love them enough to start a relationship with him. The story line was simple, and although it wasn't action-packed, I did not want to put this book down. This story was sweet, romantic, and fun! The characters were lovable & I enjoyed the playful interaction between them. 5/20/2023 0 Comments The storyteller grohlGrohl’s childhood was a typical 1970s, American-suburban childhood in Virginia, complete with BB guns, fishing trips, and plenty of injuries. After the breakup, Grohl realized that his true love in life is music and that he did not need Sandi or anyone else as long as he had his guitar. Next, Grohl recounts a memory of Sandi, the first girl he fell in love with and who broke his heart. As an adolescent, he was introduced to punk music through his cousin and a Naked Raygun concert, and immediately developed an interest in the musical genre. He recalls how his mother took him to a local jazz club, and it was there that he first became inspired to play music himself. Grohl sees himself in his daughter’s passion and also remembers the way his mother helped him first discover music Grohl emphasizes the circular nature of life and how traits like a passion for music seem to be passed on from generation to generation. His memoir begins with an anecdote about his daughter, Harper, who desperately wants to learn to play drums. Grohl’s memoir follows a loose, chronological timeline, maintaining a thread from his youth to the present while drawing parallels between memories and experiences of the distant past with those that have occurred recently. This study guide uses the 2021 Dey Street first edition of the book. Stuart and Jake have a somewhat rushed romance, but all in all, I really enjoyed this novella.Ī charming, straightforward romantic novella with an unlikely plot arc: finding Bigfoot. I found this a bit scary but in a good way. Stumbling across the semi-naked stranger, he helps Stuart by sharing his sleeping bag with him and bringing him and his dog home the next day.īut the strange sightings do not end there, as the creatures have a weird interest in Stuart's house in the woods. Jake is researching Sasquatch ever since he was bitten by one during his Park Ranger duties. Trying to escape from them he runs into a stranger in the middle of the woods. Stuart chases him, wearing only a bathrobe, and tries to bring him home, but he finds himself surrounded by creatures that look strangely like Sasquatch. One night, Thor hears a noise outside and furiously starts barking and vanishes in the woods hunting whatever it is that startled him. Stuart is a romance writer who purchased a lonely house deep in the woods of New Hampshire where he lives with his German shepherd Thor. She finds contact with civilization jarring. But for Meloy, all colors are captivating, from the red-gold in the spines of a prickly pear glowing in the sun to the clay-red of "waterfalls cascading down lavender and crimson sandstone." Her reactions to the natural world are so intense they border on pain. The Yucatán's turquoise Caribbean coast enthralls her, as does the turquoise sea of the Bahamas. In another, she reflects whimsically on California's turquoise swimming pools. In one chapter she muses on the history and mystique of the blue-green gem. Color figures prominently here, especially turquoise, the hue of the signature stone of the region. Meloy ( Raven's Exile: A Season on the Green River) takes the reader through landscapes of pure sensation in these contemplative essays that are part Southwest travelogue, part memoir and part naturalism. Stephen R Donaldson is my unsung hero of fantasy greatness. ‘It has to be one of the strangest, most frightening, and surrealistic fantasy worlds ever created. Yet Thomas Covenant had no idea how those powers could be tapped. Only the mystic powers of the white gold he carried could protect the Lords of the Land from the ancient evil of the Despiser, Lord Foul. Now he was regarded as a saviour, the reincarnation of the Land’s greatest hero – Berek Halfhand. As a leper, in his own world he had been an outcast, unclean, a pariah. He called himself Thomas Covenant, the Unbeliever, because he dared not believe in the strange alternative world on which he suddenly found himself – the Land.īut the Land tempted him. and introducing Thomas Covenant, the legendary antihero, who is about to start a dark adventure like no other Kicking off one of the most celebrated series in fantasy literature. 5/20/2023 0 Comments Woman and Nature by Susan GriffinMany are comparing our present era with that of the Civil Rights era. In honoring the approaching anniversary of your book, I thought we might explore the time period Woman and Nature came out of – the Civil Rights era. This book was, and still is, revolutionary and should be read by anyone working to deconstruct the rise of patriarchy and a mechanistic worldview, as well as the silencing of women and the natural world. We are approaching 40 years since its original publication. I am so thrilled about the release of the e-book version of Woman and Nature. Jeanine Canty: Susan, first off, it is an honor to once again interview you and engage in dialogue. 5/20/2023 0 Comments Dagny atlas shruggedDagny seems to shock and surprise people without even trying. Dagny certainly knows how to make a grand entrance, whether it's showing up at a party with a one-of-a-kind outfit or crashing her plane into the middle of someone's super secret town. This is how Midas Mulligan introduces Dagny to the others when she arrives in Galt's "Atlantis" with a literal bang. So let's break Dagny down into her various component parts and see what we come up with. And things are further complicated by the fact that we often experience the book's roller-coaster ride of events and emotions through her eyes. Dagny makes a lot of polarizing choices that can be hard to understand. But she's really one of the most mystifying and complicated people in the book. She's the star of the whole shebang, and we get almost an excess of information about her – compared to other characters at least. The novel may be obsessed with the question "Who is John Galt?" but first we need to ask, who is Dagny Taggart? At first glance, Dagny may seem like the easiest character to figure out.
